The “Comte de St. Germain”

Greetings, pilgrims! Heroes, even! Your shriving and ordeal has earned you a reward beyond gold, beyond jewels! You have proved yourselves worthy of being received into the presence of the lathe of heaven, the keystone of Lemuria, the siege perilous, the company of the Ascended Masters, the circle of the Illuminated!

The Comte, Tunnel Team

A “living meme” whom Mitch first met atop Mount Shasta and whom he refers to as the “Comte de Saint Germain,” after the infamous philosopher, artist, alchemist, aristocrat, and (alleged) immortal.

During his first encounter with Mitch, the Comte looked like a stumpy little man with bulging eyes and fishy lips, frog-like, clad in a weird mix of contemporary cold weather gear and actual furs. He wore a golden crown with a broad area in front, bedecked with crystals and gems. Carved into the front of the crown was the KI.AG glyph – LOVE ME.

The Comte approached Roger atop the Hilton at the San Jose Airport while Roger was bugging Uri Geller’s suite. To Roger, he looked about 5’6” and wore a sharp black suit with black shirt, dull black shoes, and dark sunglasses. His hair was closely-cropped to the skull and his face was squat and wide. The Comte told Roger to tell Mitch that the “upper world” had undergone a dramatic and unexpected transformation which “endangered” the deal he had with Mitch to find Alpha Leonis. "Causality,” he shouted to Roger, “it is all twisted and your timeline is thus tremendously unstable! Things were supposed to go a certain way and now they are not!”

At Mount Shasta, the Comte offered URIEL a deal: he would provide them with access to the “Control Room” beneath the Mountain where they could “un-create” OZYMANDIAS (along with Andrew Krane and Genevieve Abeille). To do this, they would need to bring the kulullû whom Marshall dubbed the “Old Man” into the Control Room, where he could be “deleted.” URIEL declined the offer and attempted to kill the Comte, but he escaped.

During Operation ALLOCHTHON, the Comte orchestrated Archie’s abduction-by-UFO while the latter was flying back to Alabama from New York. The Comte mentioned that Archie had been abducted in similar fashion 25 years prior. He also admitted that he is a living meme, an idea that can manifest in and communicate with the material world. During their exchange, the Comte offered to restore a timeline in which Archie’s son Charlie did not die.

The Comte is an agent of the Red Kings, whom he refers to as his “masters.” As a living meme, he is able to project himself where he wants, seemingly at will, including into Mitch’s dreams — though he later said to Roger that it is easier for him to appear in high places, like at the top of a mountain or a tall building.

In their dealings, the Comte has repeatedly urged Mitch to track down and kill Mitch’s doppelgänger, later determined by Marshall to be Alpha Leonis.
