“Steve Canyon”
An êkimmu that attached itself to “Steve Canyon Program” pilot Frank DiGiuseppe while flying classified missions in Laos.
Mitch stumbled upon “Steve Canyon” when he approached Frank’s father, Armando, at his home in Pittsburg. It tried to possess Mitch — mirroring his movements and repeating things back to him — before Mitch was able to see through its disguise. He fled and had a minor freak out. URIEL then apprehended Armando and interrogated his êkimmu master in the back of an ambulance using Archie’s puppet, Enki.
As a type of “living meme,” êkimmu are generally designed to fulfill one specific task or function before swapping hosts. This particular êkimmu’s was, apparently, to compel its host to eventually engage in ritualized murder for purposes of reawakening History B. It had completed its programming by “converting” Frank, and so leapt to another host — Armando, Frank’s father. The irruptor’s presence presumably accelerated the elder DiGiuseppe’s illness from lung cancer and also caused the old man neurological problems.
It had some mastery of glyphs. Frank exhibited knowledge of SHEG and GU.SHUB, presumably learned while the êkimmu possessed him, and the êkimmu also used NAM.HILI while possessing Armando. “Steve Canyon” was eventually “exorcised” by Archie and its host Armando died immediately following the irruptor leaving his body.
